How is Christmas (the gifts) done at your place?

How do you guys do the gift part. It’s my first time celebrating Christmas with my husbands family and it’s a lot of us. I was thinking something like secret Santa? Or is a gift given to each family member?

We all used to buy gifts for everyone, as the family grew that got really expensive. So now we all buy for all the kids, but the adults do a gift exchange. At thanksgiving we draw a name and that’s the one person you buy for ☺️

We only get gifts for the children and the grandparents really. The kids (if old enough) usually get gifts for their parents. But other than that we don’t really get the adults anything, sometimes if we have extra money we’ll get them(like the married couples) restaurant gift cards

My husband has 3 siblings and there are 8 total grandchildren. 
- grandchildren get gifts from grandparents 
- grandchildren get gifts from aunts/uncles 
- grandchildren get gifts from cousins 
- godchildren get gifts from godparents (they kept most of this within the immediate family so this is almost all of the grandchildren) 
- godparents get gifts from godchildren
- grandparents get gifts from children 
- grandparents get gifts from grandchildren
Ugh. So many gifts. It honestly is hard to keep track of when buying and I just end up buying random stuff because no one needs anything. Plus, it takes literally hours to open them and we don’t start until after dinner after mass, so it is so late. 
This year we are doing a couple days at a water park in place of most gifts (godchildren/godparents are still exchanging).

We buy individual gifts for the kids and then do a couples basket or if they're single, we do a special basket for them. For instance for couples we have done a game night theme, movie night, alcohol with a  diy charcuterie board. For singles we have done a spa gift basket for the ladies or a man scaping basket. 
I usually start buying early for the adults since it easier to shop for them rather than the kids lol.

Every other year we have the whole side of my family gathered - then we open the gifts from other friends and the other side of the family either the day before or afterwards. 
Most of us adults have an agreement that we only give gifts for the kids within a budget, or go several people together and buy larger gifts that's needed etc.

On my side of the family, we all gift each other something small. Usually our favorite Christmas sweets or crafts ( we all have our own little craft we do as a side hustle. Then we gift the kids actual gifts. 
My husband's side draws names. But I still get his parents a gift outside of whomever our person is we have to gift.
