Not together confusion

So my ex and I broke up last week and are in a shitty situation basically. We are on a lease together that isn’t up until March. He is the one that decided he was done so I decided I’m going to move out into an apartment but I can’t until next week so taking him seriously. We weren’t really getting along the best because he was running off to the bar. Well all this last week he’s been overly nice and usually I’m like good he’s being nice for the kids (we have two kids) but he kept all of a sudden accidentally called me babe and talking about his video game saying “look at your boys gun I built” (for call of duty when we aren’t together. Then he made me dinner twice and brought me lunch. I called my mom and she told me not to read to much into it and I didn’t in a positive way I didn’t take it that he wanted to be back with me. I’m more nervous like what does he want type of thing? Or what is he guilty of type deal? Because he was right back in the bar tonight. Maybe he’s messing with my feelings to be crappy but I’m having a hard time feeling like he is afraid to tell me something. Also drugs are a factor here so not sure if that’s why he’s like two different people or what. Really just needing some support going through a lot with my kids. He keeps being confusing when I told him to just be honest…so now I’m resorting to not talking to him at all..
