Nursing Bras, are they really necessary?

Packing hospital bag. I rarely wear bras, only to the gym and with white/see through shirts. Do nursing bras help with nursing or if i go braless as usual will i be fine?

If anything, you need a nursing bra for leaking.. i had to sleep in them so I could wear pads for leaking. I bought a 2 pack of super soft ones from Walmart for $14. They don’t have the clip down sides and they look similar to a sports bra but they are so comfortable.

You won't need one until your milk comes in, then you'll need something to keep the nursing pads in otherwise you will leak EVERYWHERE (at least until your production regulates). Also when the milk comes in your boobs can hurt and be reaaaallllyyyy sensitive so I found wearing something that stopped them moving/stopped my nipples rubbing the shirt was quite relieving. You can get singlets and shirts with a shelf bra and nursing access which isn't as restrictive as a nursing bra but can be unsupporting if you're a bigger chested lady like me.

I have nursing bras and just regular semi support sports bras that I can pop my boob out and honestly I wore them even after I was done breastfeeding lol so much more comfy. You’ll definitely want to wear SOMETHING, just because of leaking and you’ll want the support trust me. Especially those first few months when milk comes in and your boobs get engorged etc. #pornstarboobs 😜

I don’t usually wear a bra either (: I leak a lot at the beginning so i use a nursing bra to hold in my reusable nursing pads. I got some really comfy ones at target and they work great (:

If you want to avoid a bra after your milk comes in, I'd suggest Lily Pads. They are silicone nursing pads that stick to you all by themselves, you don't need a bra to keep them in place!

I mainly liked it because I need the support and I leaked so I wear nursing pads. Plus I had really bad night sweats and if I don’t wear a bra I sweat more for some reason. But if you’re used to going brakess you should be fine worse case scenario if you leak stick nursing pads on the inside of your pjs/night gown.

I just use a loose sports bra. Only reason is to put a pad in if needed but with my first I didn’t really leak at the beginning so In the hospital I was mostly braless with just a tank top on for some support. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I couldn't breastfeed bc mine are too big but I did try with my first for awhile and I had to wear one bc I needed pads bc of the leaking...so unless ur good with wet circles on your shirts and feeling wet all the time lol...
