Sex at 6 weeks?

I had a second degree internal tear, my bleeding has finally stopped and I'll be 6 weeks soon. My doctor said at 4 weeks (it was my daughter's appointment) that as long as I don't have any concerns I don't need to make an appointment for myself (didn't check me or anything). Are we OK to have sex at the 6 week mark as long as I feel fine? Or what has been your experience??
