Sushi- how bad is it really?

I'm on vacation this week in the Florida Keys, I'm seeing sushi places everywhere. It seems like it'd be really fresh down here!

So really- how bad is sushi? Just once? No swordfish obviously, but maybe something with less mercury?

I probably won't get anything are just to be safe, but it's so tempting!

I eat sushi constantly. A lot of "rules" are nonsense. I've never been sick from sushi ever in my whole life so what is the chance I would be over the next 6 months?

I eat either cooked sushi or veggie sushi. My favorite is either shitake tempura or sweet potato tempura!!! Mmmmm

Read debunking the bump! There's no food poisoning you can get from sushi that would harm the baby. Sushi is generally very safe fish, and fish is great for baby's brain development.
It's time for that myth to die.

I've had sushi but I stay away from the raw stuff. If there is a roll that I want to try I get it minus the raw fish and add cream cheese haha. Worth a try if you really want sushi.

I avoid it. Since you don't know the restaurant, you don't know if they have a good record or how they prepare their food. Cooked sushi is usually made on the same surface as raw sushi, too.  I eat lunch meat and had a hotdog once, but raw fish isn't worth it to me. It just takes one piece of fish to contaminate the prep area.

I eat sushi with shrimp since it has to be cooked first. Like a shrimp tempura roll would be a good option. The risk is with raw fish since you don't know how it's been handled at the place you are dining. This could be a good compromise for you.

My Doctor said everything in moderation. That I can have sushi occasionally as well as lunch meat. Just not on a regular basis.
