Tips to get rid of Cradle Cap in 3 easy steps!
Cradle Cap is a common, harmless thing that affects about 10% of babies, usually appearing in the first 3 months and will go away on its own usually by their first birthday. My son got it just before 2 months my doctor told me moisturizer, another told me baby oil and a fine tooth comb. I personally thought the comb might be too rough, even a baby one so instead I used a brush. This method I’m going to walk you through had my son’s cradle cap gone within a week. Full disclosure the image I’ve supplied to show cradle cap is not my son as I do not have a picture of his head with it but they had pretty close to the same level of “severity”. The second picture is the tools I used. Let’s get started!
First: wet baby’s head with lukewarm water as directed on the oil, you can wash your baby’s hair if you prefer but it’s not necessary as long as it’s wet.
Second: apply a fair amount of oil either directly on the scalp or on your hand making sure to apply it to the entire affected area, if your baby has hair you can use your hand to smooth the hair into a style you like.
Third: wait at least a couple hours for the oil to do it’s job then brush the scalp. I did back to front, front to back and side to side both ways applying slight pressure to knock any loose scales off. I also did a bit of a sweeping motion back and forth on one spot if I noticed some coming off but needing some help.
Then just repeat until gone. Steps 1 and 2 I did twice a day, usually in the morning and right before bed, the third step I’d do throughout the day probably about 3 or 4 times, always doing a brush before the first application in the morning as the oil worked really well at night and would sometime lift scales completely off needing to just be brushed away. That’s it!
Again cradle cap is common, harmless and will go away on its own, this is just a tip to get rid of it quickly (in my experience) and safely. Bonus, the oil I used smells really good.
