Is it normal not to take a blood test until week 9?

Everyone seems to know their HCG levels already and I have no idea what mine are. I’m five weeks today and my first in person dr.appt. isn’t until Dec. 16th. Is this normal?

It is normal to NOT have your HCG levels measured. 
Those that are getting theirs measured either used a fertility treatment, have a medical problem, or have bleeding and need to rule out miscarriage.

Super normal. I am getting mine tested due to secondary infertility. This is my 9th pregnancy and I only had 3 live births. My doctor does HCG once I get my positive pregnancy test and then a repeat 2 days later and then an ultrasound at 6 weeks to get a baseline for future ultrasounds and see if there’s a heartbeat. I’ll be 4 weeks tomorrow as of now I have no appointments and won’t until there is proof my HCG is rising because my last two pregnancies were chemical.

Yes I cannot see my doctor until 8-10 weeks. That’s when my clinic will first see patients and they do an ultrasound at that time.

I think if you going through ivf or have history of chemicals your doc would want to run more haha. 2 beta tests to confirm pregnancy. 
Both of my ivf  pregnancies only did 1 beta at 4 weeks  to confirm the pregnancy .

I only got mine drawn because I was spotting for 5 days and was super concerned. So the doctors offered to draw them.

So I went through a clinic my first pregnancy and they had me do all sorts of tests. Now I’m trying a group physician office and they said they won’t see me until my 6th week when I go in for blood work and all the stuff. Then I’ll see a actual doctor 4 weeks after that.

Do you live in the US? 
I’m not sure if my situation is normal, but because we were working with a fertility clinic, I had blood done on 14 dpiui and 16 dpiui to confirm pregnancy and that HCG was doubling. And my first ultrasound will be at 7 weeks- the second at 12 weeks. But again, I don’t know if that’s because we’re with a fertility clinic or if it’s usual
