Dry skin remedies for eczema? At my wits end!

So my 15 month old has eczema and just the driest skin like ever (just like mom!)
With winter now its horrible. Im moisturizing him with either vaseline or aveeno but it doesnt seem to do much. The doc wont prescribe anything and just keeps saying to moisturize, thats it.
What products are good for super dry skin? In canada btw

My skin prefers a shower and then aquaphor or Vaseline or something else super thick, then I cover with socks/pjs. My hands used to get way bad and my mom would lather on the Vaseline and then cover with saranwrap and then socks 😂😂😂 it did work but I always had a hard time sleeping with the socks on my hands so it’s definitely worth trying to keep on top of things

Aquafor works better than Vaseline to me because it’s thicker. Some good lotions that I use on my daughter are Eucerin Eczema Lotion and Vanicream.

The best advice I was given was to stop washing my son. I was told only to put soap on this diaper area in the bath. So I started only washing his whole body once a week and generally just wiped him off with a wash cloth in the bath with water, other than his diaper area or if he was really dirty for some reason. I also used aquafor like crazy and it really did help. The not using soap and aquafor were told to me by a dermatologist my son was referred too and both of those things did wonders.
