My baby is 6 days old and was born with jaundice and for her first check up her level increased slightly and it’s giving me bad anxiety 🥺 the nurse said it didn’t increase significantly so they weren’t worried but I can’t seem to shake the feeling that somethings wrong … the ftm anxiety is killing me 😭 has this ever happened to anyone and it turned out ok ? Baby has another check up saturday to check levels again

Yes. Just keep baby in front of the window with the curtains open. The natural light should help

The chart for the levels can be confusing  if you don't know it. So levels might rise slightly but since baby is older and probably weighs a bit more, it's okay and it can actually drop them to a lower risk category even though the level might be higher than previously. This was the case for my first. If they aren't concerned, don't stress yourself. You can ask if it would be helpful to get a bili blanket. We were also told to feed more frequently and wake him every 2 hours at night until his levels went down so he would poop more, that's how the body gets rid of the bilirubin.

We went through this too. My sons levels would drop after 24 hours under the lights (3 hours under, 30 minutes out, etc.) but then increase immediately. His bilirubin levels got to 21.7. We did have to go to the NICU for 3 because a condition on the newborn screening was flagged. You’d probably already know if your babe had this. We were diagnosed at 5 days old. 
Definitely keep baby in sunlight (indirect through a window is perfect!) as often as you can. Even go on walks, just make sure baby is covered appropriately. It’ll all be ok mama. Enjoy that baby!

My 4th baby had jaundice & they sent us home with a bili blanket for him to wear until his levels went up. Took like a week I believe.

I can surely relate! I know your anxiety is killing you, I’m a ftm too and my baby was born with jaundice also. In the face, it’s normal for all babies but the hospital kept her overnight for observation. Next day they did lab work again and it went down, we went to pediatrician for first time two weeks ago and he sent her for another blood test but said don’t worry about it bc hers is not bad. I have took her in the car and the sun was out, I left my curtains open to let some sunlight in and her face has gotten a lot better since. I just hate how hospitals scare us ftm! ESP. With jaundice.
