My 8 yr old

Have a question ladies on your opinion I don't know what to think about my 8yr old little girl. I check her to make sure she washes correctly because she's got a bad habit at not cleaning her "area" right. And she's not comfortable with me looking. I've told her I just wanna make sure because I don't want her to get sick down there.(she's had green like mucus)before. It's not like I'm touching her but she don't like the fact that I look. Am I wrong to check her?
