Bear or Cub as a nickname for Caleb?

My son’s name is Caleb and I often sort of sing  “Caleb the little bear cub” to him (he’s five months old) and I was thinking of using either Bear or Cub as a nickname for him.. Is that weird? Lol if not, which one sounds better to grow with him? I’m picturing cheering him on at a baseball game for example lol.. let’s go bear or let’s go cub 😂

My parents call my sister “Peanut.” She’s 27. 😂 Nicknames don’t have to make sense to outside people. As long as you like it, do it. They’re both cute.

I really like both! I’d probably start calling him both and see which sticks. Or maybe both will stick! My son has five nicknames or pet names that we use regularly. So you don’t necessarily have to choose between them.
But I’d keep it personal, probably... like spoken to him one on one, rather than shouted to a crowd when he’s older. You can just use his name for that stuff!

One of my sons is 15 and I’ve been calling him bear since he was a baby. His actual name is Jude. Anyway, I love it!

I called my baby bear when he was 1. By the time he was 2 he’d outgrown it. I feel like calling him bear around his friends would be mortifying though I’m sure he wouldn’t mind in private. Plus nicknames are usually earned by things they’ve done 🤷‍♀️
