Does laying on your back slow down labour?

I read something about being on your back during pushing means gravity doesn't help etc. i may try different positions this time! What positions helped you?

Hands and knees has been my fav position with my last two kids, very quick births.

Well I wasn’t prepared to get in diff positions wen having my baby because I woke up & she was coming out Jus a couple pushes.. I delivered on my back. 9 min delivery.. it’s different for every mom. Do what’s comfortable for you if you can

I guess it depends what's more comfortable for your body. I could not stay still during labour and couldn't lie down

It doesn’t necessarily slow down labor but it does make pushing less productive and increases your likelihood of pelvic floor damage. If you want to be on your back a good little trick is to roll up a small towel into a c shape and stick it under your butt. That will allow your sacrum to have more room to expand backwards when it needs to. 
Side lying and hands/ knees are also great positions. Try to keep knees slightly in internal rotation instead of external to really open up the pelvis. Both are possible with epidurals as well despite what some people believe 😊   Hands and knees is great for letting gravity assist but if you labor and crown quickly you’re actually more likely to tear that way. 
In the moment you’ll probably intuitively go into the best position for you. Remember in almost all situations, except emergencies, you have options no matter who is delivering your baby, where, or what pain management you choose

Yes. I actually laid down on my back to give myself a break during my last baby. Then once I got a little break I sat back up on my knees and boom my water broke and she was crowning in no time. My first baby I was in bed almost the whole time on my back and it took forever to get her here 23 hours. My last baby I tried my best to stay on my hands and knees the whole time and she was here in 5 hours.
