What is the appropriate margin of time to wait before getting into another relationship after a break up/divorce or in th case of some a deceased lover or spouse. Do the rules, in your opinion vary based on age or gender?

If you're ready, you're ready. There are no real "rules". And to judge someone who's moving on not in the timely manner you think they should be is awful. Everyone is different. Do as you please as long as it's in a healthy and respectable way according to your own standards. At the end of the day you have YOU and your demons to deal with. So, if this is your case, that's up to you ultimately. It's your heart. No one else's. Once your heart is good enough shape to take on the responsibility of not just looking out for your own happiness but also someone else's then go for it. Just make sure you're happy every step of the way.

I honestly take a long time to find someone I actually like so for me it could take months or even years. But that's because I'm usually not ready to jump into something because of myself. But if you're ready and like someone a lot then go for it. It's all about how you feel about getting back into a relationship.

I think it depends on emotional preparedness and well being! What ever amount of time it takes for you to be in a good place again with yourself and be fully moved on, that's when you know you're ready to get back in the game! Anytime before that and I don't think the relationship will be very successful!
