How to phrase "clean your room"

This is a cutesy video but its so true. As soon as someone tells you "clean up" its so hard not to lose all motivation.
I'll be fostering in a year, so I'm thinking of ways I can communicate well with kiddos. I'm thinking of asking my kiddos "whats on your to-do list today? Would u like some help with adding items on there?
I feel that might help with motivation better?
