Over reacting about large purchases?

Hello! Sorry this is long, I’m a little heated rn!

Question for you ladies! My husband and I are currently in the process of closing on a house (literally next week)! I feel like it is a typical rule of thumb due to the amount of fees that come with purchasing a house to avoid making any unnecessary purchases but last week my husband had purchased a new laptop (out of nowhere)! He already has a desktop which is rarely used.

When I saw that he had purchased this I asked if work had bought that for him and he said yes but that just didn’t seem right since it was mailed to our house and he works in the office. So I decided to look at the Amazon account and he lied about it and purchased it on his own.

I personally think that money could go towards the house since there’s a lot of work that needs to be done but am I over reacting? We really do not have the room to make such purchases.
