Well just because other doctors did it doesn't mean that that doctor is not right I don't know about you but I'd rather not risk the life of my baby over what I and untrained not medical professional says

Please take it. I went into preterm labor at 30 weeks with my last son because of bv.

I had it and didn’t know. I went in to preterm labor at 22 weeks and almost lost my son if they hadn’t caught it! I had to get a cerclage to keep my cervix from opening. I fought everyday to carry my baby to term! They cleared the BV up with antibiotics which did lead to a few cases of yeast infections from the BV being cleared so fast. But it wasn’t nothing but one pill I had to take and I was good! Long story short if a DR is prescribing it it’s more beneficial than the risks. That’s definitely not something you wanna leave untreated I wouldn’t even test the waters.

My stance is to not mess with infections or even possible ones. I always consider that doctors are continuously learning and evolving their treatments based on their own experience as well as that of their colleagues, so past practice isn't always best. I think of it this way as well: if infection breaches the placenta, the doctor won't be just treating the mother, but trying to treat the baby as well, and I personally wouldn't want to expose my baby like that unnecessarily when I had a chance to prevent it.
