Can you have cats and a newborn baby at home ?

I’m 7w3, and my husband and I have a couple cats together. They’ve been our little family the last few years while we waited to start TTC. One of them we adopted after my brother passed away, so I’m very attached to them. But over Christmas, he told a lot of his family that we’re expecting, and several of them told him “looks like you gotta get rid of those cats!” They all seemed to be in agreement that you can’t safely have cats and a new baby ? I havent told my family yet, but I do know that my mom had cats when my siblings and I were very little. She also has talked about how one of her cats loved to sleep on her pregnant belly. My husband has been scooping/dumping the litterbox since I got pregnant, and obviously our kitties would never have unsupervised access to baby when s/he comes, but I was just curious if there was any other reason why cats wouldnt be okay ? They’re up to date on all vaccines, flea free, very well behaved, and they would not be around baby if I’m not awake and watching them.
