Why is it hard to leave your first?

In ur opinion why was or is it hard to leave your first  love?

8 years, a new marriage and 3 children later and my first love still crosses my mind on occasion. No idea why. Wish I had the answers.

I met my first love on a dating website. We were "dating" but never actually official. We went on dates, kissed, held hands, I brought him to events as my date, but he was never actually my boyfriend. He was the first guy I ever dated, first kiss, first date, not my first for sex though, we never went that far. We had problems, I was insecure and he would ignore me for days at a time, I'd get upset and over text him, he would get mad. Things were great when they were good, he was sweet and I definitely fell in love with him, but we fought to much and he decided we should just be friends. I was totally heartbroken, it took me a long time to get over him! Things ended up working out for the better, he turned into a bit of a douche bag he just thinks really highly of himself and acts like he's hot shit. He is actually now married to a mutual friend of ours. That alone was hard to get over at first, but now I see things worked out for the better. Some days I do wonder how things would be if we hadn't fought so much. He's always at events with our friends, so I still see him often and we are friends,, but I do still miss him sometimes, I reminisce on the good times we had, and I know he does too. I will always have some love for him, I don't think you ever loose that with your first love. No matter how much you want to forget. even now, at party's, a song will come on that we both have a memory around, and I look up and he's already looking at me, smiling. It's nice, to be able to be friends but know that neither of us will forget what we had once.
