My whole family does it but I decided against it after seeing how excited a co workers kid was to get hers done on her 9th bday. I’d much rather wait until she’s older and comes to me wanting it done. Then I can take her to the shop and let her pick out her first jewelry. Also plan to surprise her with her first tiny diamonds 🥰

My daughter is 17months we will not be piercing her ears until shes able to ask for them and understands what will happen when she gets them done! Also 100% no piercing guns!!!

I am waiting with my girls only because my skin was so sensitive that I have awful memories of being a toddler and my parents having to always remove the studs for cleaning and it hurt, getting infections, the holes partially closing and having to push them back in etc. They decided to wait for my younger sister and it was much easier. But ethically, I dont have a big problem with it, I dont really know any women who are mad that their parents decided to pierce them as babies.

Why anyone would intentionally create another thing to clean and keep up with on a very small child is beyond me. Earrings in babies and toddlers are more of a risk for infection and injury than anything else.

I got my babies ears pierced at 9 months! She didn’t even cry. Taking care of them was so easy and she didn’t mess with them. I’m having twin girls and I’ll be doing the same with them. In Mexican culture it’s kind of normal to have them done when they’re little! I don’t regret it cause she looks so precious and she loves picking out new ones for her to wear.

I got mine as a baby and I never had problems and was even grateful as a child that I wasn’t one of the “odd ones out” but if I have a girl, I won’t get hers done until she asks bc I think it would be cute and special to get them done together. Make it a girls day ❤️

Now I WANTED to but I'm glad I didnt cause my daughter is a little lunatic and I'd be worried she grab at them, shes 2 and wears glasses so shes constantly touching her ears. I'll take her when she asks for them.

I’m waiting until my daughter asks. I’ll also be taking her to a professional shop and not Claire’s or anyplace with a gun. The guns can’t be cleaned/sanitized properly and cause more damage to the ear due to using the blunt back of the earring instead of a needle. Once she can ask and understand the needle and the process when explained she can get them. Plus it will be more special that way

I’m from the Caribbean and it’s definitely a cultural thing. Older people will start to watch you funny if you haven’t gotten the baby girls ears pierced by 3-4 months. I waited till baby girl was 5 1/2 months and they thought I was a rebel haha. Having a boy this time around so don’t need to worry about that.
