Does screen time damage babies?

Question

I hate myself and resort myself because I exposed my baby to screentime when he was younger than 6 months. I didn’t even know it was dangerous. My pediatrician never told me anything. I let my baby watch ABCs and songs thinking he was learning. Are there any parents whose kids had screentime when they were little and aren’t affected?

It’s fine, as long as you’re not parking baby in front of a screen for hours on end, you’re not doing any damage. 
I’ll admit that at my breaking point, I’ve absolutely parked my baby in front of the tv while I took a mental health break and ate something in quiet while he was preoccupied with watching pretty colors and hearing fun songs.
Screen time can be done appropriately and in moderation without causing any issues.

Dangerous? I have never heard that. It’s not the best but as long as you aren’t parking baby in front of the tv for hours, it’s fine. If you have a tv on babies are naturally going to look at it! They love the lights and movement.

We literally have our tv on all the time, it’s more so background noise if anything. My son is 3 and pediatrician says he is advanced for his age. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I used to limit screentime becuase the powers that be told me I should. I adhered to a strict no more than 15 min per day, didn't even let my kid face the TV and also kept "zoom" meetings with distant relatives to a minimum. I did it all.
Then the same powers that be told me that I should be thrilled having my kids do 8 hours of school on zoom 5 days a week, only FaceTime relatives and do virtual playdates. I shouldn't let them actually see anyone...the screen is fine. Better than fine. The only thing. The virtuous thing. 
Got it. I don't listen anymore. I do what's best for my family within reason and without guilt. I suggest you do the same. Your kids are fine. You are doing fine. It's all fine.

Well mine knew how to count and their abcs, colours well b4 the age of 2 cz of youtube. Its not likes its all day. I hv one particular one they watch and its the same. Its almost background noise but it worked. They pick things up super fast and hv huge vocab. Its helpful while I clean up a mess or put on the washing etc

You’re fine. Unless you’re letting the screen parent your kid for hours at a time it’s fine and is not hurting them.

It isn't recommended for children younger than 18 months-2 years because they learn better via human interaction. It also can have an affect on speech development, language and attention span. For kids 2 and older, it's recommended no more than 2 hours of  high quality screen time (apps, videos, etc) which is educational tv. 
Screen time isn't bad. It's just recommended to limit it. It can be used to assist learning like Ms. Rachael, pbs kids, and other shows. Or apps like abc mouse.

20 minutes here or there for babies under 1 won’t cause harm. As said above is excessive screen time followed by no interaction. As long as it’s balanced out with play your LO will be fine 🥰❤️
