What week did you start packing your hospital bag?

I waited and packed mine after a 36 week scare! 😂 don’t be like me. I was NOT prepared when he tried to come early. My phone almost died, I didn’t have my fave pillow with me, no good change of clothes. Better to be safe than sorry!

They told me at my 36 week appt to start having everything in the car for appts since it was a long drive for us to go home and then back to the hospital. So we packed the night before my 37 week appt thinking it was an unnecessary use of time and energy when half of it would need to be unpacked and repacked anyway (our daily used items). Good thing we had it because I was admitted at that appt with preeclampsia and baby came the next day! Surprise! 
With our second, we had everything ready by 36 weeks. She was born at 38.

I say start with the things you won’t need! Like depending where you live, you won’t need flip flops yet (get some for showering!) so you can pack those. You can always get a travel tooth brush and tooth paste and toiletries. You don’t need those. I imagine you and your support person have enough comfy clothes to last! You can always pack 2-3 pairs of everything that isn’t worn too often, so it won’t be missed. You can obviously pack babys things! (I know you didn’t ask, BUT PACK A NAIL FILE OR NAIL CLIPPERS!!!!) lol. 
I had my bag mostly packed except for things I was still using by 31 weeks. Just in case. The rest? I made a list. Either I was still wearing those items or I needed to go buy them. I made a list so I wouldn’t forget anything. And I kept it with my bag so the list didn’t get lost.

I half packed mine around 32 weeks. I packed stuff I didn’t really use but wanted like a spare pillow case, and extension cord, travel sized hygiene products, etc. 
I had a very detailed list so both times that my water broke, I was able to pack and leave for the hospital within the hour. I knew exactly what I wanted and where it was so it was easiest for me that way.

I never go early, I’m either past 40 weeks or induced so I usually wait until at least 38 weeks to do it. I think most people like to have it ready at least by 36 weeks 🤷‍♀️ No harm in being prepared early though.
