Investing/e Trade(help please)

I’m new to trying to buy stocks and need a little help. I created an e trade account last week and put in 1100 it told me then it wouldn’t clear until tomorrow but I was eager and went on today and tried anyway. Well my plan was to buy one single share of stock per week. First one being Tesla price is about 1,050 when I tried to purchase it said insufficient funds. Am I not able to buy only single shares? Does E*trade charge a fee for purchasing? Or is it really bc I’m a day early even though funds show in account.

I’ll take any and all investing help/advice. Tia

Also I looked and didn’t find group for this and tried google first. Don’t really have any friends to ask.
