Lightening (baby “dropping”) suddenly at 28 weeks?

Millie

This is my third baby. Both my previous babies were breech at delivery and required planned c-sections at due date. I never experienced lightening with them and carried very high until the very end. I didn’t have any real signs of labor leading up to their due dates.

With this baby, she was breech at the 20 week ultrasound and until very recently “felt” breech. After two previous breech babies, I know how it feels—like a tap dance on my cervix, basically.

Today my husband and I had sex and very shortly after I began to have painful cramps in my pubic bone and tailbone area. They felt like period cramps, a steady pain, not on and off like contractions. They were very painful and I am still uncomfortable (but lying down). When I looked in a mirror I realized that my bump (previously very high) had noticeably dropped. I’m still feeling regular movement, but it’s hard to tell exactly where. The last kick just now felt kind of centered in my abdomen.

Could she have turned? Has anyone else experienced a drop so early, and if so, what happened? I will be calling my OB soon, I’m just curious about similar stories.

I haven’t experienced the drop you’re talking about but I have experienced pain like a period pain after having sex with my husband. We now use protection again because I’m pretty sure his stuff made me dilate and it was super uncomfortable and hurt.. not worth the risk or stress of wondering what was going on for me 😂

Lol yes fun fact their seamen can soften your cervix and cause dilation which is why people tell you to do the deed if you’re trying to naturally induce!! I now won’t let him go near me without one I’m too scared to experience that or worse before it’s time for this baby to come 😂

Is that something that can happen? I have never heard of it before! But to be fair, during my last two pregnancies we stopped having intercourse by the third trimester for a number of reasons. Thanks for the advice, I might be buying condoms for the first time since like, 2010! 😅

My baby is breech too, around 26 weeks I felt her around my lower belly, and it felt like her foot was going to come out of my vagina!! And sure enough, I just had my 28 week US scan and she is breech. I’m now 29 weeks and I’m starting to fell her more around my belly button and lower rib area. My belly is very low, even the US tech made a comment about it. I think it’s because she’s still breech. But who knows… try not to stress it. I would just call your doctor if you’re really worried about it! ❤️
