8 weeks 3 days postpartum and still bleeding
Long post. I had my daughter on 11/23/21. After I had a postpartum hemorrhage. I was taken to OR where my OB examined me internally and deemed surgery not necessary. He stated that if he tried to remove any of the clots/blood he was concerned that I would bleed more. I was sent home 2 days later. I was home one day before I was passing clots the size of large eggs. Went back to the hospital to be examined, after 6 hours of waiting, I was admitted. I had an ultrasound done and the on call OB took me to surgery. She said she was concerned about left behind products of conception. I had a d&c and the pathology came back as rare chorionic villi. My bleeding became lighter for a time and now it’s worse and still bright red. I had my 6 week check up and my OB said to come back in 2 weeks if I was still bleeding. At my 6 weeks he started me on the mini pill. I went back on the 18th and he said I was fine and that his wife bled for 8 weeks after her births (they are retirement age). He stated it could be the mini pill causing bleeding. However, I never stopped bleeding from the birth of my daughter and I feel that the mini would cause spotting and not full on gushes with small clots. I am exclusively breastfeeding. After the trauma of the birth and the OR a couple of times I just want to be back to normal. It’s really draining me emotionally too. OB states that if I’m still bleeding in a couple more weeks, to come back for an ultrasound. If was the mini pill, then why do I need an ultrasound? He also said that he may have to go in and “suck something out”. I assume another surgery. I feel deep down that something isn’t right. Opinions?
