How is Queen Elizabeth a queen?

I’m asking so I can be educated. How is she a queen? How do we even have queens and kings? What’s the point of them? I feel like the government in the world just decided they were going to give the world a queen and they chose her. I see her as a normal person not even close to being a queen.

She is queen because her father was king. She holds no real power in British government though and is largely symbolic, which is why she doesn’t comment publicly about politics and the final decisions are ultimately not hers to make although she is briefed and likely asked for input.

There’s also 28 other monarchs in the world, kings, queens, princes, sultans, sheiks and the Pope.
Most of them are Constitutional Monarchies, such as Queen Elizabeth, where they’re just heads of state and they technically have “authority” but can’t do much with with. 
Then there are a few which are Absolute Monarchs, who have total authority over the country and laws.
