Mastitis

Jennifer • First time mom to a 🌈 baby boy 💉 by IUI. Born 11/18/2021 💛 Bronx NYC 📍

I’m suspecting I might have it :( been feeling chills on my upper arms/shoulders/chest and some aches in my joints. Breast are not in pain but feel tingly and warm as of the last couple of days since the chills started.

I’m def reaching out to my doctor tomorrow, if y’all ladies have expert this - How long did your symptoms last and how was it in general?

Thank you 🙏🏽

I haven’t had a confirmed case of mastitis but I’ve definitely gotten clogged and had pain/aches and chills because of it. Each time it only lasted 2 or 3 days and i relieved my symptoms by taking hot showers and soaking my nipple with a wash cloth. Then I’d massage the area that was hard from the clog to see if I could release some of the pressure. I also had that baby breastfeed from that breast as often as possible no matter how painful let down was.

Sounds like you might have a mild case of mastitis. I wish you the best of lucky and for it to heal quickly!! I had it 1 weeks postpartum and it was the worth pain! It took me about three days after being on antibiotics to feel better. I agree with the previous comment on having the baby nurse on that side as much as possible or pump that’s what I did when I couldn’t take the pain. They says to use a Haaka with epsom salt, use warm compresses before nursing and cold after. Taking a hot shower or bath will also help. And what I felt helped me the most was massaging the clogs out, press your fingers in circle motion from armpit to nipple and kinda squeeze the clog out. Hope this helps!!
