What they don’t tell you after delivery

You have people in and out all day and night at the hospital. Seems like as soon we get little one settled and try to sleep someone else comes making their rounds. This is my second and I must have forgot this 😂 hardly any sleep since Tuesday because of it and so ready to be home. 
I also had a c section both times so unsure if it’s extra because of that. 
Also we brought our hatch sound machine and it’s been amazing at the hospital. We play the birds during the day and the nurses just love it when they come in.

Yeah they have to check you to make sure your uterus is boggy which can cause hemorrhaging and etc. Check on baby as well. I understand trust me 😅 but once I went to nursing school and took OB w/ Clinical I understood the importance of their rounds.

I went into labour at 1am so only had a couple of hours sleep that night. My baby was born at 8.22pm. First night with her I barely slept as I had a traumatic birth so they were doing obs every 15 mins and then we were moved from delivery to hdu very early, like 5am. So 2 nights no sleep. Third night my daughter was feeding from 1am right thru till the morning (I didn’t realise at the time but I wasn’t producing anything, not colostrum and my milk never came in because of the birth). So she was never satisfied. So 3 nights no sleep. The next morning we had ppl in and out but they finally stopped, my daughter had a formula feed and I managed to get her settled. I’d literally just laid down to get some sleep and they came to move us to a different room 😩😩😩 it was awful. I know they need to do their jobs but omg. I was like a zombie

I had the same experience. I had a traumatic long labor. Afterward, I just wanted to nurse and sleep. But they wouldn’t leave us alone. All hours of the night and day, someone was popping in to do something or other. I don’t think we ever in 3 days had two hours in a row to sleep. Torture

I had a ton of people going back and forth right after birth (I also ruined four people's lunch for three hours to be fair) and that felt a bit hectic and crazy.
But after that it was dead silent. We barely had any visits the 24 hours we stayed and I felt alone and unsure of everything. It was extremely uncomfortable actually 😅
But they're also extremely short staffed here so that's a part of the problem. People's experiences vary depending on how busy a day it is..

I always end up a puddle of tears because of how tired I am, but this last baby was so much easier. No visitors and the nurses left us alone because we k ew what we were doing!

Both times I was in with my babies our nurses left us alone as much as they could. We also had signs outside the door we could turn to sleeping and they would only enter for important vitals and checks. With baby 1 they had to check babies blood sugar every 2 hrs for 2 days so we knew they were in every 2 hrs but if I was sleeping they would have my husband take the baby to the triage room so I wasn't woken up. It was great lol. Baby 2 was good and they would only check in every once in a while. We were left aline y less we needed something. I couldn't imagine being woken up all the time lol
