Sent home from L&D

I'm 38+3 and I've had contractions all day, since about 11am. We went to L&D around 4:30 and my cervix was 4cm, 70% effaced, baby at -2. Contractions for several hours there, but not following the set pattern they like to see. They checked me again at 7:30 and said I'm still about the same, so they sent me to labor at home. My contractions are getting more and more intense, even though I'm just laying with my husband on a bean bag mattress at my mom's house because we live 40 minutes away from the hospital. They still aren't as close together as they should be, and I'm afraid to go back until they are. So at least my husband is getting some rest right now.
