When did you start having visitors?

My husband and I just welcomed our baby boy into this world on Monday! We came home Wednesday and everyone is bombarding us with when they can come visit. I had to have an emergency C-Section so i’m still recovering from that and my husbands brother is trying to guilt trip him into coming today to see the baby. Plus with Covid and RSV i’m a little worried. When did you start having people come visit?

You should push off visitors unless they are your mom or his mom who plan to help. 
Everyone should wear a mask if they want to hold the baby

I had people come over immediately after I got home. I wish I had more alone time after I got home but that's just the way it was for me. This next time it'll be the same. I've found if I want to be alone I just grab the baby and say I need to feed the baby again.

Immediately, but only immediate family and people from church who wanted to bring us dinner 😂. I also had an emergency c section and I needed help so my mom stayed three weeks it was amazing. I didn’t have visitors that I knew I would have to “entertain” until at least 1 month after we got home.

lol nobody for like 6 months. But my baby was also born at the height of the pandemic. 
Covid aside though, imma just be flat out honest: I HATE post birth visitors. NOBODY is helpful. Your bleeding like crazy, you’re emotional, you hurt, your baby needs to be fed every time you turn around, you might need to pump, your boobs hurt, did I mention BLEEDING AND EMOTIONAL? Also exhausted, like bone-dead-tired. Also you look like crap. And probably none of your clothes will fit right anymore. 
People can wait. I had super bad baby blues for the first couple weeks with both my kiddos, I’d be sobbing my eyes out over just about anything & literally had no control. I was super stressed too, being a new mom & trying to adjust to everything. Plus if your baby has any issues at all whatsoever, visits are just an added stress. I was made out to be a hostess with a clean house, wearing proper clothes & fresh coffee & snacks for guests and i h a t e d it, but didn’t know better & wasn’t really given the option to decline them at the time. Also, it’s really hard to deal with when you can fully see when your baby needs YOU, but someone is holding him & clearly don’t know that if a newborn is crying, it’s because of a need, not just because they’re fussing. 
You do what feels most comfortable to YOU. If you want people right away, go for it, if you want everyone to forget your entire existence for like 2 months so you can heal & adjust, there’s no shame in that either.

The only visitors I’m allowing are my vaccinated sisters, who will be watching my 4 year old while I have my csection. After that not one person.

We let our parents come right away but only for a couple hours. Everyone else had to wait 2 weeks

No one visited us but my parents, and that’s bc they followed our safety requests and they actually help when they come. They both cooked, did grocery shopping, helped the older kids with schooling, managed our toddler, held the baby while we napped, etc. We don’t host.

I have a small close knit family and a couple friends that all visited right away! I thought I would want time alone but I wanted to show her off lol. They all knew to not overstay their welcome and it went fine. Going on 5 months and has only had a very small cold that lasted a day or two, even with me and my husband getting a bad cold for a week or more.

After her first shots. She’s almost 8 weeks and only her godparents and grandmother have been allowed to visit.
