C-Section vs open surgery (laparotomy)

Mo

I’m mentally preparing for all possibilities come August. I’ve had several laparoscopic surgeries and even for those which use a few small 1 inch incisions the recovery is fairly painful for a couple weeks.

(Not severe, but like painful when lying down or painful when you laugh/cough/sneeze)

I’ve never had an open surgery, is a c-section recovery closer in pain level to a laparoscopic surgery with a few small incisions, meaning the worst pain (when sleeping/lying down/coughing) is for a couple weeks?

Or is it closer to an open surgery, which from those who’ve had them say is severe for months? Like extreme pain for a couple weeks and then the recovery pain for more weeks? Difficult to lift and such? Just wondering. I can handle either way, but want to mentally prepare.
