Homeschooling parents, what are you most neede/go to items?

My kids are not in school yet, but we are wanting to get our extras before actual school starts. 
What is helpful? What have you found unhelpful?

A co-op or some other form of homeschool community. 
Not as important in the early years but as they reach highschool age make sure to work with an accredited program so they get a diploma. I graduated from homeschool and have nothing to prove that so if I ever wanted to continue my schooling I would have to het my ged. Which feels like a redundancy to me and makes me feel like all the work I did in highschool was a waste. So I tell everyone to work with an accredited program and plan to do so myself when my children reach that point.
