Birth control bleeding

So I just started birth control almost two weeks ago and I’ve been having sex since starting. I haven’t been extremely strict about condoms since starting birth control. I’ve had the same partner for almost a year now so STD’s aren’t my concern. But now I’m experiencing bloody discharge? It’s very concerning and I’ve read it’s a symptom of both pregnancy and just a side affect from birth control. What’s yalls opinion?
