*Sorry long post...I am a very pissed off momma*

I live where mask are not mandated anymore and have been hearing all the more conservative people scream about how it should be a choice to wear a mask and if they want to then they can but shouldn't be mandated. Fine yes...I agree it should be a choice at this point. However I had to take my 9 yr old son to the ER and file a police report on a dude who has been screaming for a year about it being a choice then physocally attacked us over us wearing them. We almost never go into stores but I had to take my son into a store to pick up a prescription...we live way away from town so had to do it after his appt and no option to not take him. We were walking into the store (basically like a regional store like Safeway or fred Meyer) and he got up into my face about "haven't you heard, you don't need your fucking face diaper anymore" and just going off about fucking scared libtard biden masker and all that. I just grabbed my son tighter and we kept walking into the store. He ran infront and ripped my mask off and then went to rip my son's off....my 9 yr old fucking sons mask. Now my son has very shaggy long dark hair and that meant since the guy took zero seconds to look and missed the headgear my son was wearing under his mask. He rolled the mask off but also got his headgear and ripped it out of his mouth. The wire sliced open the inside of his mouth and also messed up the band around his tooth the head gear goes into and wrenched his head and neck. Thankfully the store manager was on the way and they held him until the cops got there. I took my son bleeding and terrified to the ER and as the store was getting me some towels so my son could hold to his face the guy was screaming how it is fine, his son will make sure my sheep of a son knows how fucking dumb his mom is. Went to the er, he got stitches and then came home to douce bags son spamming my sons school facebook page (annoyingly required incase kids need to isolate) with taunts and insults...the school talked to his mom and they were removed but my son has his whole day with this kid because it is a small school. And to top it off the dude is trying ro counter sue us saying we provoked him by wearing masks and claiming post pandemic ptsd with mask wearing and our masks just set him off and we should be held accountable for wearing them now that they are not required. Our lawyer laughed and said to not worry about that but we have filed an assault charge against him. I know that it isn't one sided and people have gotten into people face for not wearing masks but for fucks sake just leave people the hell alone. We wear a mask still (yes N95) because I had a baby at 34 weeks and is still in the nicu. If it is supposed to be a choice then let it be a goddamn choice.
