My mom has always been extremely vocal about our monetary status but none of it makes any sense. She would always act like we were struggling unless we were. I went to a private Catholic middle/elementary school that costs 2k a semester and when we could no longer afford that for 4 kids, the food budget went down, and my parents didn’t even apply for scholarships or help from the church.

We’re doing a lot better and all in public school, my parents just made 230k selling a house, and are both making 40k+ a year. But we still aren’t allowed anything. If it isn’t a birthday, we can’t even get clothes. Unless we’re with Dad. My mom claims we can’t afford our bills with their combined salaries. We can’t afford snacks(but we can afford fancy charcuterie for them) and couldn’t dream of buying a secondhand PS4(but they can afford diamond and gold anniversary bands, a gold watch, and 2 new cars) and we could never, ever, ever afford to take me to the doctor over my constant headaches, weird painful lump on my wrist, constant back pain, and noticeable curve in my spine(but my little brother can visit Urgent Care every other month for mild growing pains).

I can’t wait until I can move out.
