Russia, Ukraine and USA?

Okay so I’m very ignorant in the subject and would like to know exactly how does this impact USA? I know lives will be lost and war is never a good thing but how does the war between Russia and Ukraine a bad thing for us?

It’s going to effect our gas prices, among other things. It’s going to cause world wide inflation worse than we have it now. That’s just to start with. Not to mention the actual war aspect, though we’ve said we aren’t sending troops, who knows what will actually happen.

It is about influence and spreading democracy in the world. Remember, if people like Putin are unpunished…..Soviet Union can come back again with Cold War…. Which could lead to nuclear war….. Average American usually don’t think about those things, because they are safe here, but the rest of the world lives in very very different reality. I am an Eastern European whose family members died from the arms of communist. Therefore, this war means just one thing…”what country is next?”…

I just know that the US is allies with the Ukraine. The moment Russia sent troops in Ukraine territory for whatever reason Biden along with Ukraine thought it was sketchy behavior. Everyone was suspecting that Russia was up to something because you don’t just send troops off to other peoples territory out of nowhere. Russia claimed they were doing it for peaceful reasons or whatever…… that’s when Biden warned Russia that if they were to do anything unethical that there would be consequences so to make sure to not do anything that would start something. Then sure enough Russia went ahead and did some thing to start a war so….

I'm in the UK and this is the update our prime minister gave today.
Basically, NATO countries cannot physically go over there and fight, we can however, give support in other ways. We have sent troops over to the borders but they will not actually enter Ukraine. They are there to protect NATO territory. But, if Russia attacks any place that is a member of NATO, then we're looking at all out war. The sanctions don't seem to be bothering putin at the moment so let's just hope it doesn't get any worse 🙏

PBS has a good article with the history of the conflict. Ukraine isn’t fully part of NATO so the US doesn’t have to get physically involved at this point … although all NATO members are going to be making Russia’s life hard through sanctions.

Prices especially on gas are going to skyrocket, and there will be war of some kind, i am not sure how brutal yet. We are a part of NATO, thus why we are involved. President Biden has already announced limitations on exports. Biden is ordering sanctions and deploying some of our troops to Germany. Chinas assistant foreign minister is already trying to say that we are what fueled the fire so to speak.
