Im a new nurse and it was my first day on my own. I got 15 patients. I mean?

That’s ridiculous right?? I was giving 8AM meds at 1pm still. Patients were so angry with me. I mean come on?? I asked if I could get less, but they can’t. This is bullshit, I just want to cry. I don’t want to be a quitter but why the hell did I chose this career… I want to help people. Not run around with my head cut off. FIFTEEN people?!?!?!??! Each with wounds, fall risk, and around 10-15 medications. I mean that’s ridiculous.

I have never in my life heard of a nurse having that many patients. and that’s a light load. sometimes nurses at this job have in the 20s. like shouldn’t that be illegal?????
