Stupid question but do you think that education is an essential thing in life?

It would be better if they tought you what you need to know in life rather than teaching you about dead poets and math you never use i wish they tought us how to do taxes and get a loan and pay a mortgage or write a check or how to cook and clean and raise a family and basic medical training or even offer cpr

Yes but all different types of education are important. We could all have Our doctors license but we would still need garbage men and postal workers and etc etc.

I think the basic high school education is essential. College education is helpful but not necessary unless of course you need it for your career. I have a college degree but find it useless since I'm going to try and be a stay at home mom, although I work full time now. I learned things like how to write a thesis and things about molecules I'll never need to know. So common knowledge that you'll use daily is much more important to me I think!! :)

I think it depends what your doing in life. If your talking about graduating high school then yes even though I hate school and would rather be at dance 24/7 I still want to graduate and sometimes I leant things however if your talking about college that's when it becomes a personal descison because college isn't for everyone so then no i don't think it's important at least not for me and what I want to do

I have a college degree and don't use it. Instead, I'm a stay at home Mom. My husband dropped out of high school and was in the military for 8 years before getting out recently. He provided financially for our family. Not a waste because I like knowing that I have the education to get a job and support myself and my son if need be. But that was a lot of schooling that never got used.

I haven't used anything I learned in school except for basic reading, writing and math skills I learned in kindergarten. I went to a college specifically geared around what I wanted to do. I wouldn't say it's a waste of time per say, more like some of the classes I don't think pertain to everyday life. In high school I was never taught how to apply for college, write a resume, file taxes, save my money. I actually didn't learn how to write a resume till I went to college. I think some schools standards are different though and have a different curriculum. My senior year I failed the standard 9 (mandatory state test for AZ) 3 times and they weren't going to let me graduate if I didn't pass. I cheated on that test cause no way was I going to be a 2nd year senior over some algebra I'm never going to use once I leave this place.

In high school I never had a "sex ed" class. But I do think It would have probably been helpful, not just to me but to others as well.
