So frustrated

Sorry just had to vent. I have really liked my doctors but the admin system is not great. It’s hard to find many offices now that are not owned by one of the big companies. So my doctors office and the hospital are all owned by Medstar. I have a negative blood type and need to get the shot. At my apt on the 4th I was told to do my 1 hour gluclose test which I could do at the other location for my office or at labcorp. And I got a written order for the shot I need to have done on the 23rd. I was told I needed to do a blood test to make sure I don’t have any antibodies already and if I wanted to do it at the same time as the gluclose test I could so I didn’t have to go back and forth. Basically I could put the one hour off a week to do it all at once. I took the one hour last week anyways which was good because I ended up needing the three hour.

I went for the three hour yesterday and asked about the blood draw for the shot. They said I had to do that at the hospital. So I go to the hospital this morning and Registration takes 40 min which is crazy in my opinion since they should really have all my information anyways it’s all the same system. And then when she called to where ever I was supposed to go they said they don’t have any orders for a blood draw. I need to call my doctor and come back (again crazy in my mind because it’s all the same system why can’t you call, my doctors office is literally attached to the hospital).

So I walk out to call and no one answers the first few times. Then they finally do and want my doctors name and I blank I had only had this doctor once. (I switched over at 20 weeks and have had two apts there and they are rotating me through all the doctors since they don’t know which one will be on call the day I deliver). I told her I couldn’t remember exactly but it started with a B…: she literally sat in silence while I logged into the patient portal to find the doctors name instead of offering me any suggestions and not moving forward with the conversation (there are only four doctors only one with a B she knew who it was) then she says all she can do is leave a message with the doctors assistant to put in a order but she doesn’t think it’s needed. (I’ve already been turned away because it is needed) So not going to get any type of movement on that today.

Now I’m anxious because I don’t want any of this to delay me getting the shot next week and put us at risk. This is one thing I hate about these huge medial systems. Having all your records and files in one place is nice and all I’ve liked the doctors here but having so many different parts to admin makes a mess of things too.
