Does this sound fair to you? (long post)

Apologize in advance for the long rant, but here it goes: my husband and I both work full time and have decent income. We have a house that we pay mortgage on as well as our own utilities. We usually split these two bills 50/50. Aside from that, my husband doesn’t have any other bills as his car, insurance and phone are paid for. I do pay for my own car, insurance and phone. Well, I will be getting unpaid maternity leave here soon while my husband will be fortunate enough to get 6 weeks of paid leave. We’ve tried discussing how we will pay for mortgage/utilities during that time, since we normally split it 50/50. My husband is saying we need to continue to split those bills 50/50 even though I will have no income for those 3 months, and that I will just have to try and save the money up in advance to cover my part. In my opinion, I feel like this is highly unfair because he is not only getting paid time off, but he has less bills to pay for. And he could easily afford to pay it himself for those couple months. When I brought this point up to him, he told me that it wouldn’t be fair to make him pay for the mortgage and utilities himself. I’m still just not sure what to think. Am I wrong for thinking that it isn’t fair for me to contribute 50/50 during that time?
