Postpartum Do’s & Dont’s

Baby girl arrived last week Monday (8 days ago).

I was just wondering if anyone could give me some advice or tips on what to do and what not to do postpartum. 😊

This is my second child but I don’t remember feeling this much pain down there with my first, or experiencing bad back pain and aching joints after my first.

Any advice or tips will be much appreciated 😊

Thanks!!

Congrats!!! I’m 3 weeks postpartum with my first and I’m starting to feel myself again now finally. I would advise just rest a LOT and even when you feel good again take it slow doing things around the house and stuff. I made the mistake of overdoing it and started bleeding heavily the next few days after. Make sure you drink lots of water and eat nutritious filling foods! Rest as much as you can, and ask for help!

Ditto on the rest, this is my 2nd baby and I thought I was smart, but I overdid it several times when I was feeling "good." You gotta remember the biggest wound to heal is in your uterus and that takes longer than the outside soreness. 👍

Second as well and as much as I feel like I am not doing a lot, I am 4.5 weeks postpartum and still have pelvis pain and occasional uterus discomfort. I didnt not hurt like this last time and so far infection was ruled out and nurses just think its because I had 2 kids in 26 months so my body is taking longer to heal. Either way I am resting when ever I can, trying not to lift my 2 year old too much and take help from my husband as much as possible. Im just enjoying the time snuggling the newborn and watching netflix, even though I want to be normal and participate in the household chores. I know I wont get this time back and I would rather be sore now than months to come. I am also going to look into pelvic floor therapy because making sure everything is normal there is important for the years to come. Rest when you can, accept help when you need it, shower most days (it makes you feel normal), eat good food, walking is healthy even if its just from one room to the other, and lots of water.
