How long were you kept after c-section?

What is the required time to monitor an incision vs. when can I decide to get out of hospital jail? I absolutely hate feeling stuck in a hospital, literally held against my will. That will not happen this time. However, with a c-section, I know things will be slightly different. But how different?

24 hours. First ever C-section. Two prior vaginal shoulder dysphasias. They wanted me to fast to be discharged, but I was eating and drinking and keeping things down so they released me. I farted when I got home 😂 took 4 days to poop 💩

Omg I stayed as long as they let me!  It's so hard for me to walk around/function for a few days...it's so helpful to have the nurses to help!  I stayed for three nights (surgery Tuesday morning, left Friday afternoon).  I finally felt some semblance of normal on Friday.

My doctor told me they like to monitor for at least 24-48 hours because the stuff they give you for the C-section doesn't fully wear off until after 24 hours so you might not know your exact pain level. Also have to make sure you are walking around, using the toilet and passing gas. That passing gas was odd for me with my last one but it was a thing. My last one was done on a Friday at 6:20 pm and the doctor was going to discharge me early Sunday afternoon but we waited until Monday just so I could stay with my babies another night because they were in the NICU and I was upset about leaving them. I'm having my second C-section this Wednesday so we'll see if I go home Thursday or Friday.

They told me I could as early as 24/36 hours and the OB was ready to discharge me, but the pediatrician wouldn’t discharge baby boy until after 48 hours 🙄

My midwife told me as soon as the baby is feeding well, I am able to go to the toilet once the catheter is removed and there are no other problems then I should be able to go home the night after the c section. ❤️
