Hemorrhoids question

Let me start by saying it’s difficult to get in to see a doctor where I live, otherwise I would go.

Yesterday I had a lot of discomfort and realized I had a hemorrhoid. I had one a few years ago and it was itchy and uncomfortable, but I don’t remember any bleeding (I mean, maybe a drop that I wasn’t aware of?). This time, there is some bleeding (not tons, but some, and it is not continuous). I did speak to a friend who is a doctor and she said not to worry, but it’s hard not to!

If you’ve had to deal with these, have you had luck with OTC treatments, and when did you go to a doctor?
