Finishing inside - safe?

Question

I read somewhere that semen can cause contractions. I said it out loud, now my husband won't finish inside anymore. He is worried it is dangerous for the baby. Thoughts?

Doesn't cause contractions. Orgasms cause contractions. Semen softens your cervix. Sex has not been scientifically proven to cause labor. Only purely anecdotal evidence, which should only be taken at face value. Just because it may have worked for one person doesn't mean it'll work for the next. Also, it won't do anything unless you're already on your way to labor (dilated, effaced, etc.) which means it is safe to have sex (yes, he can finish inside of you) all the way until the second your water breaks. So finishing inside is completely safe if it's before your water breaks. Don't worry. Sex is natural and healthy and you'll be okay!

It's is fine for him to finish inside you unless you're told otherwise. Yes it can cause contractions, but not labor, unless your body is ready. Lots of things cause small contractions that are safe and it helps your body get ready for labor. Ask your doctor if you are concerned at all.

Semen won't cause contractions. But it does soften the cervix which isn't a bad thing at all. Usually it won't soften it unless your body is  ready for labor...
And when you orgasm, your uterus contracts anyways even when you aren't pregnant.

Orgasms and finishing inside are totally safe during pregnancy unless your doctor tells you specifically not to.

Oh crap. Lol I'm not sure but every time my boyfriend and I have had sex, he finished in me. Didn't notice any contractions though.

It is true that it causes contractions. My midwife said have at it, but have him finish outside until you're basically trying to induce labor. Once you're doing all you can to get the baby to make its debut she said then have him finish inside to try to start contractions. 😉
