Does parenting come natural?

Question

I'm a ftm and im sure a lot if you are too, for those who have had babies, does parenting come naturally? Like does your mother insticts come in? I'm not too comfortable holding newborns or changing their clothes or anything. But will it come naturally??

Some things do come naturally, other things take time, effort, and a lot of error. I PERSONALLY, think a person is lying to themselves and others if they say they knew/know EXACTLY what to do with raising their child regardless of the situation or circumstances. Some of us handle certain phases and stages better, but there's always something somewhere along the way that stumps us and requires blind faith and hope that the job is being done right.

Raising a newborn may be easier for one person, while the teen years are like being on a foreign planet for them. In like kind, someone may flub through those first years, and handle the latter ones with far more grace.

It's person-by-person, moment-by-moment. Don't stress about getting it "right", focus, instead, on getting to know your child and who you are as a mommy. Don't beat yourself up for not immediately knowing what to give or do for your child. Instead, take note of the things you feel you succeed in. Focus on learning from trial and error. Remind yourself that growth comes from making mistakes, not from perfect accomplishments.

I can say, you will surprise yourself by all that you do know, even in the midst of feeling completely out of your depth. None of us are perfectly ready for all of what life will hand us. I find a comfort in that, oddly enough.

I honestly never felt comfortable around kids nor did I want any kids... But the second my son was born it was like I snapped into mommy mode! It takes time getting comfortable, especially with your first baby. But by my second it was like second nature holding and caring for her.

Yeah my whole family was very shocked I was going to have a baby since I never really liked them 😳 I'm still working on being a FTM it was hard going from being selfish to selfless but I'd give my all for my son that came natural

My sister was one of the most anti-kid people you ever would have met. She didn't like hugging, holding kids, changing diapers- none of it. She swore she would never have kids. And then she got pregnant. She had a HORRID pregnancy. But her daughter is 7, now... And she loves her to the moon and back. She held her, bathed her, clothed her and fed her and just absolutely fell in love with her and her parental instincts turned right on.

While I was growing up, my family all said I wasn't going to have kids. I have to admit I didn't have the patience for them. As soon as my son came it was like I knew what I was doing from the start. It's like it just snapped into me one morning. I'm not saying I didn't make mistakes, its a learning process. Trust just go with your gut and never doubt yourself. You'll do just fine
