Are you socially distancing more during the third trimester? Can’t decide whether to go to a small bbq this weekend

75% of our county is fully vaccinated, and the positivity rate is 7.5%. According to the CDC’s metrics our current risk is low, but I think those recently changed to be more relaxed? 
My sister is having a bbq for Mother’s Day, probably indoors, and her in laws and in-law grandparents will be there and my parents, too. Would you skip this (and future gatherings like this? Or is that overkill? If anyone looks sick I would immediately leave

Personally, no. I’m not scared of covid. I have many plans to see family this year while I am pregnant. 
But if it’s a fear of yours don’t go to the event. It isn’t worth the stress. There will be many more events in the future.

No but I’m vaxxed, boosted, and already had Covid at 20 weeks, so unlikely to get again now

Depends on how far along you are. Hubby and I went on lockdown about a month before my due date. We aren’t scared of Covid itself but this is my first baby and I didn’t want to risk getting Covid and having it affect my labor experience. At my hospital if I tested positive I would have had to wear a mask the whole time, been quarantined, and I’m sure there were more restrictions I’ve forgotten.

I ended up getting Covid one month before I was due from going out with friends and after I recovered I decided I would no longer be seeing people or having them over until well after the birth. Luckily it was a mild case, but honestly I cried fearing for my baby. I had to miss an in person midwife checkup and do it virtually instead which sucked because I loved hearing the heartbeat check and being measured, and then once I recovered I had to go for an additional ultrasound to make sure the placenta and baby were still fine, which added extra stress. Then finally during birth they took the placenta to run more tests on to make sure everything was fine. In the end everything was good and I recovered well before birth but I was terrified of going into labour while being sick because I was afraid of the idea of not being able to hold my baby after birth and be stuck wearing a mask. Ultimately the decision is yours and it depends on your comfort level, but I'd personally sit it out for peace of mind.

That’s up to you, and do what makes you comfortable. My main worry would be getting diagnosed with Covid, and then going into labor, and you can’t even see your baby because your positive. That would be heartbreaking for me.

I’m over 35 weeks being induced this month and I’m avoiding near enough all social situations. But, I am high risk, I have a heart condition and it’s worsened with the pregnancy so I’m quite vulnerable right now. It’s all personal choice! Whatever you feel comfortable with x
