Zoloft?

I’ve always had anxiety but I can feel it getting worse. I’m 2 weeks away from my c section and my OB recommended starting Zoloft. I have anxiety about taking it! 😭 Anyone take it and it worked for them? I know my baby is cooked, but would it hurt her?

That is a pregnancy safe medication anyway so if you need support, it’s a good option. Also I think you need to be thinking ahead to postpartum - would getting in therapy and medication be helpful with anxious thoughts and feelings? It’s better to be prepared, and medications often take months to work the way they are designed.

Can you describe your anxiety and how it's impacting your well being? I ask because Im a former mental health professional, sometimes drs are very quick to prescribe meds, but being 2 weeks away from major surgery and having a baby is a very understandable circumstance for feeling anxious. Unless it's at the point of youre not functioning, Im not sure I would start it right now, personally. The first 2-4 weeks of starting an SSRI can be challenging and with side effects, Im not sure I would take that on 2 weeks before birth unless absolutely necessary.
