I never thought I’d be shamed for breastfeeding….
I have a friend group of about ten with babies all the same age as my baby. I’m the only one who breastfeeds. Some decided against it before baby came, some tried and it just didn’t work out. It’s freaking hard, I get it. But what I don’t get is how they always have to tell me how grateful they are they chose not to do “that” because it’s so inconvenient to have to cover up, it’s painful, it’s blah blah blah. It’s like all they can say is how breastfeeding sucks to me, typically while I’m breastfeeding my baby. I try to be supportive of their choices, but seriously? That is until this awful shortage took place…now they are constantly talking about how easy it must be for me. Yes, I don’t have to worry and I can’t imagine being in their position, but before this all you could talk about was how awful it is….and asking if I can give them breast milk. I mean, I’m happy to help when I can, but I can’t supply four other babies on top of my own! I’m not a cow….
Sorry, just a rant. I always thought the rude comments about choices was more common with formula feeding (although 100% misplaced). I’m realizing it’s just everything…
