My preterm labor
Wednesday morning at 5:30 I woke up to what I thought was braxton hicks, they wouldn't go away so I got up to pee thinking it was my full bladder causing them. I laid back down and 5 minutes later I had another one. They hurt bad enough that I was kicking and tossing and turning. I obviously couldn't fall back to sleep and I was starting to worry that it was real labor. (❌️ DONT DO THIS ❌️) I did a self check and could feel my water, I'd say I was probably at a 6. I got out of bed and texted my mom and my husband I went outside for a cigarette and started timing my contractions (40 seconds long 4 minutes apart) I called my mom who woke up my brother so he could watch my other two boys. Then I started calling my husband, he works 2 and a half hours away so I knew I had to get him to answer asap. I called him 9 times before he finally woke up. I got my bra and socks and as I was walking down my hallway my mom came in, she immediately said something about how much my bump had dropped. We headed to the er. When the nurse checked me, she said either my cervix were really thin or I was completely dilated. She had another dr check and it was confirmed that I was at a 10. They brought in a portable ultrasound machine to check if baby boy was head down. He was breech and it was decided that I would need a c-section. I immediately started bawling. My mom, husband and nurses tried to calm me down. The nurse told me if I was worried about not being able to have another vaginal delivery that I would be able to for future pregnancies. They got me prepped and got the spinal block in. They put up the curtain and let my husband back. My nose started itching and my arm were partially numb. I found out later that they gave me morphine and that's why I was itching. They started the c-section and within 10 minutes my little boy was out. I held my breath waiting to hear his little cries. After about 30 seconds I heard the faintest cry. My husband got to go see him while I was being stuffed lol. They took him over to the nicu and my husband went with him. My surgeon said he had some bad news... my son turned sideways before the surgery so when they went to get him out the incision wasn't big enough so they had to cut a T into my uterus which means I will never be able to have a vaginal delivery again. I'll have a c-section at 36 weeks for any future pregnancies. Knowing that I'll have to go through this again makes me question if I really want to have another one. Originally I wanted to try one more time for a girl but I don't know if I can put myself through this again. Anyway back to baby boy.
