Anesthesia/Pain Relief

So I got a medical abortion at 6ish weeks when I was 21. I am now 28 years old. I’m a nurse on an L&D floor. Women come here for D&Cs, sometimes even medical abortions. I noticed they always get pain medication unless they say otherwise. Like IV pain medicine. This was not the case when I had my abortion. They told me to take ibuprofen and then “number” my cervix although I felt all of it. It was the WORST pain of my life. I became pale, bradycardic and threw up! Absolute worst pain ever and now I am a little traumatized by it. I still hate when men try to finger me and I didn’t allow my Dr to “check me” for years even when I was pregnant with my son. Did anyone else have this experience or did they give you pain medicine?? I’m kinda upset that they actually do this to women without pain relief.
