Febrile seizure experiences?

Does anyone have experiences with febrile seizures they could share? Did they happen again? Did you notice anything strange after? 
My 22 month old had a febrile seizure yesterday and it was completely terrifying. He had a mild fever but was playing and acting normally so I decided to just watch him and check his temp frequently. One time it jumped to 102.7 before bed so I gave him Tylenol and a lukewarm bath and he was fine. He woke up at 100.3 and stayed in the 99-101 range all morning. It spiked to 102.7 again (he was still happy and playing) but before I gave him more Tylenol his eyes rolled back in his head, he dropped like a brick, and started shaking all over. I called 911 and we spent the day waiting in the ER getting exposed to who knows what kinds of cooties. 
Apparently any febrile seizure lasting less than 5 minutes isn't an emergency at all and I should have just called my doctor and waited 2 days for a call back 🤷🏻‍♀️ Yeah. No.

Yes, we unfortunately have experience with these as well. Our daughter has a tendency to high fevers and sometimes they come VEEY fast and that's when it happens. First time it happened we called emergency here and had an ambulance and a doctor with us withing minutes. Febrile seizures are common and often not dangerous unless they last too long, but the difference here is they advice to take the child to the hospital to get it checked to be sure nothing more serious is going on.
Our daughter had two more that weekend and then none for over a year. And then it happened again 😩
They've all been short and we don't have medicine in her daycare for it anymore in case she should have a long seizure.
Whenever she gets a high temp (not fever, just high temp) we give something that's similar to Tylenol. And we give it on the clock! We wake her up at night even to give it which is a freaking nightmare. But it'll be a few years before I can let go of that 😂
Now it's been another year without any.
Hoping she never gets one again and hoping her future baby sister won't ever go through that. It's just so scary 😭

Yes! My son (now 13.5 years old) had a few febrile seizures when he was a baby/toddler. He had his first one at 13 months, just days before Christmas. Absolutely terrifying!!! We didn’t even know he had a fever, as he was fine all day, showed no signs of illness. So, his fever spiked out of nowhere! Looking back, we believe it may have happened from him receiving the H1N1 flu vaccine (when the swine flu was going on). When it happened that first time, he randomly got really tired looking/acting, then became non-responsive & then his eyes rolled to the side & to the back of his head… no convulsions. We called 911 & by the time they got there, he had slowly came out of the seizure but still wasn’t himself… it was like he was just staring off into space. We went in the ambulance to the hospital & that’s when we found out what exactly happened. The doctor assured us that febrile seizures don’t cause any brain damage or anything, which is was a huge relief!! He said that once it happens, a baby/child is susceptible to it happening again, so to try to be vigilant about watching his temperature when sick or after immunizations. But also, that kids tend to grow out of these seizures around age 5. 
My son had two more febrile seizures over the course of two years. The second one we also went to the hospital to be on the safe side & the doctor that day told us that there really isn’t a need to come in for those seizures unless they last longer than a couple minutes and/or ur having trouble waking them up. My son’s third & final seizure happened when he was 3, and it was the morning of Halloween day. Luckily, that one lasted less than a minute & he woke up ok. So, we didn’t bring him in for that one, but kept a good eye on him the rest of the day. Which, he was fine & even went trick or treating that night. 
I was so glad when he finally grew out of them!! Throughout our experiences with febrile seizures, we found out that my sister had a few of them when she was around 2, and that a couple of our cousins had them as well when they were little. Another one of our little cousins even had one shortly after my son had one of his, and one of our neighbors at the time have a son who had them as well! So, they’re actually more common than they seem! But, definitely scary as hell nonetheless!

I feel like parents should be more informed about febrile seizures because I feel a lot of parents find out after their child experiences one! Including me.  I went full panic mode, 911 ambulance came. It was horrifying. This was about 5 years ago. She’s never had one since. It was just a spike in fever and I believe I have her Tylenol a little too late. And she had multiple layers of clothes on, which probably all contributed to the seizure.

I had one febrile seizure when I was a toddler. I was really sick and feverish. It was the only seizure I’ve had in my entire life. No lasting impacts at all.

I’ve had seizures since I was 9 and I am now 23. I can say time them but the ER is right any seizure over 5 minutes is deadly. I would see a neurologist and think about medication cause it will help in managing them. Some do grow out of having seizures and there are other who have had theirs progress, I am one of those.  I also know that if you can find out exactly what type of seizure who have there are groups of people that you can talk to who have the same.

They’re not an emergency, and seldom do they lead to more seizures or any complications. I know they’re scary to see, but it’s just a funky thing that happens sometimes with little kids.
